Notes from Rich Dad!
The cone of learning
After 2 weeks, we tend to remember:) 90% of we do and say-
simulations, drama, activities
70% of what we say: giving a talk, discussion
50% or what we hear and see: exhibition, movie, demos etc
30% of what we see
20% of what we hear- lectures
10% of what we read-reading
Albert Einstein:
Insanity is doing the
same thing again expecting a different result
We cannot solve problems by using the same kind of thinking
we used when we created them.
Content vs Context
Education is about content- pouring water in a glass
Context is the learner. Changing ones context involves:
philosophies, beiefs, values. Thoughts, fears, doubts attitudes, choices.
A person’s context is seen in their words:
A poor persons context
I wil never be rich
The rich will never go to heaven
I d rather be happy
Money is not important to me
A middle class persons context is different from a rich
persons context
A middle class context
I must get education
I need a high paying job
Job security is very important
Investing is risky
I need a nice house in a nice neighborhood
Instead f investing, they think on how best to consume.
Rich persons context
I must be rich
I own my own business
My work is my life
Freedom is more important than security
I take on challenges to learn from them
I want to find out how far I can go in life
Context before content
You cannot teach a poor person to be rich, until you change
their context. Teaching a person with a poor or middle class persons context is
a waste of time… and it does annoy them.
Do not teach a pig how to sting. It’s a waste of time, and
it annoys the pig!
